Conosciuto per il classico kilt, il mitico scozzese è uno dei tessuti unisex più utilizzati nella moda;
è facilmente accostabile sia ad un uomo e sia ad una donna. Tanto amato quanto odiato, il tartan però non acquista punti a favore nei gusti di molti che preferiscono evitarne un uso assiduo.

Ma ad ogni problema corrisponde una soluzione, no?
I grandi stilisti non ne sbagliano una e, infatti per questo autunno inverno hanno estrapolato un "nuovo"concetto di tartan; rivisitato e dal gusto molto Avant-Guard.
In total look per le più audaci, sul classico kilt ma mixato all' animalier per le più sicure, o casual su maxicamicie per le grunge addicted. Inserimenti surreali, con accenni a Dalì e a Picasso, e accenni alla lavorazione scozzese grazie a grafismi digitali, sono questi elementi che avvicinano una lavorazione centenaria come il tartan alle nuove tecnologie, per capi sempre più vicini alla teatralità che alla realtà.
Lanciato in età vittoriana, associato all'aristocrazia anglosassone, il tartan nel tempo si fa altezzoso ed esclusivo. Proprio per questo, a fine anni Settanta, viene recuperato dalla moda Punk che lo reinterpreta al rovescio: il plaid come protesta sociale. Da allora, tartan come simbolo anti-convenzionale delle sottoculture urbane
